When a star expands until it explodes, it eventually grows smaller in size and dies out into what is known in astronomy as a “white dwarf”, and the temperature of this explosion exceeds 400,000°C. Similarly, scientists have confirmed that our sun will one day meet a similar fate. This explosion of the sun will cause it to gradually shrink in size, until it turns into a small, completely dimmed sun. Amazingly, the end of our sun has been referred to in the Holy Qur’an, when God says: {When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;} [Al-Takwir, 81:1]. This fact of astronomy was completely unheard of during the time the Qur’an was revealed, when people in fact believed that the universe would continue in existence forever. If anything, this is but one of the countless miraculous signs of the Holy Qur’an with which science completely concurs!
