It’s more than 1300 Kilometer fracture in the earth’s surface and there is a large series of rifts that divide the earth’s crust into a group of plates thus forming a straight rift.  All Glory to Allah who has talked about this rift; Allah says:

“And by the Earth

Which opens out

(For the gushing of springs

Or the sprouting of vegetation)"   Tariq or the Night-Visitant: 12   (ibid)
